Ebla Dakane Hassan – Woman Agripreneur, Farmer and Leader
Ebla Dakane Hassan is a woman agripreneur, farmer, and agricultural leader from Garissa County, Kenya. She is the founder and owner of Ebby Farm, a 100-acre commercial farm in Garissa specializing in beekeeping and the commercial production of bananas and sunflower.
Ebla is also the founder and Secretary General of the Garissa Farmers Network (GFN), an umbrella organization representing farmers across Garissa County. The network has grown to over 7,000 members, with women forming the majority of its smallholder farmer membership. GFN supports farmers in production, aggregation, marketing, and value addition across key value chains including sunflower, fodder, honey, vegetables, and fruits.
Through both Ebby Farm and GFN, Ebla is committed to transforming agriculture in Garissa by promoting commercially viable, climate-resilient farming, strengthening smallholder farmers, and creating greater economic opportunities for women in agriculture.
Her contribution to agriculture and women’s empowerment has earned her significant recognition. She was a finalist in the 2023 Best African Woman Farmer Award in Ghana, was recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture among the Top 3 women farmers nationally, and received the MSME Best Award in the Wonder Women category in 2024.
