Kenya's universities, colleges, and TVET institutions are home to some of the most exceptional young leaders, innovators, and changemakers on the continent. Yet most of them go unrecognised — their work confined to campus notice boards and WhatsApp groups while the rest of Kenya misses out on their story.
That gap is exactly why the Jamhuri Africa Campus & TVET Awards was born.
A Platform Built for Campus Kenya
Most national awards in Kenya focus on corporate executives, established celebrities, and well-funded organisations. The Jamhuri Africa Campus & TVET Awards was intentionally designed to be different. It celebrates the student union president running a food drive in a public university. The TVET graduate pioneering a new technical skill in their county. The campus entrepreneur building a startup from a hostel room. The community club transforming their neighbourhood with zero budget.
These are the people the Jamhuri Africa Campus & TVET Awards was built for.
Why "Jamhuri"?
"Jamhuri" is a Swahili word meaning republic — representing the collective power of the people. The name reflects the belief that Kenya's greatest asset is its young people, and that a nation's future is shaped in its classrooms, workshops, and campus halls long before it reaches boardrooms and parliament.
The 2026 Edition
The 2026 edition launches with 10 award groups, 106 categories, and a nominations process open to all Kenyans. Public voting runs from July 1 to August 1, 2026, and the Grand Gala takes place on September 26, 2026 at Southfield Mall, Nairobi.
What Comes Next?
The goal is simple: grow. More categories, more regional representation, more institutional partnerships, and more campus voices heard on the national stage. The 2026 edition is the foundation. With the support of the Kenyan public, the Jamhuri Africa Campus & TVET Awards will become the most anticipated recognition event in Kenya's campus calendar.
We are glad you are here from the very beginning.
